Final Piece

EVALUATION
The project was to create an interior space for any chosen object we could find around the workshop or at home. For my object I chose to use a perfume bottle because of the unique shape it had. My aim was to create a type of interior that helps people relax and clear their mind from the moment they enter into the building.
My research consists of looking at and making a collage of different buildings that create the same feeling and emotion as what I aim my interior to be. My research was successful as it helped me to reflect on what kind of space, environment and colour would create the correct mood. This research also helped me to decide what kind of purpose my building would serve because of the interesting structures that I have looked at.
Through the drawing of different idea models and looking at my research images, I determined what kind of features my building interior should contain. Having a cross sectional limit to the interior was one of the factors that made my development stage difficult as, I had to imagine what was on the other side of the building without making it for my final piece. In order to overcome this difficulty I drew out some of the interior of what the other side of the building would look like in order to support my structure which would be hard to understand unless it had a supporting drawing.
The development stage and the making of the shell structure was what helped me to decide on my final outcome. This was because, as well as aiding me in what features my interior should contain, such as walls, pillars and stairs, knowing what the size and actual model would feel like with the use of mod rock.
If I had more time or if I was enabled to re-work my project, in order to improve what I have done, I would have researched the interiors of my collage in more depth, including what the architects and interior designers’ purpose was in creating that particular space. I believe that this would have further helped me to improve and develop more knowledge on what additional feature I could have added or removed from my final piece. Instead of using the same coloured/shaded materials, I could have used a greater variety in order to give the viewer a better sense of the texture of the interior.
