SPACE IS THE PLACE
Ink & Chalk
Week 1
This week we focused on using Ink and Chalk to recreate a dark gothic piece consisting of 6 different sections in A4 put together.
For my first piece, I intended to create a darker setting by using more dark ink and leaving out small spaces to at least make it seem like although the different structures are a dark setting, there is also some light entering.
The second piece was more about still having a dark setting but instead letting more light through and making it seem more detailed but dull at the same time.

Charcoal, chalk & Ink
Week 2
This week, we focused more on the Chiaroscuro concept of using black or a dark background to highlight the main structure of our big image. To create this effect, we filled A2 paper with charcoal to create the background which is also part of the artwork.
I mainly used chalk to draw on the windows and pipes.
Using this technique is pleasant as you can smudge the chalk onto the charcoal and create a smooth transition from light to dark.
I also tried to use ink and water over the charcoal.

Relief Art - Paper Sculptures
Week 3
This week, we used paper in order to create our own relief art. I experimented with the use of bending, cutting and folding structures on A4 paper. It is sais that the art is not really on the live 3D structures but on the effect and the shadows this creates when light is shined on it at different angles.

Monoprinting
Week 4
This week we experimented using the three different types of monoprinting.
1. Spreading the Ink on the surface, placing paper on top and drawing on the paper to create an image on the opposite side.
2.spreading ink on the surface and drawing out the image on the ink and pressing the paper over this.
