FINAL OUTCOME

EVALAUTION
The project theme was ‘Abstract’ The part of the project that I enjoyed the most was looking at how different artists manipulated their images and making my own versions of their artwork. I also enjoyed taking photographs of self-portraits in order to create my own abstract pieces. Through this experimentation process I developed new techniques such as rearranging my images in different positions, through both the use of Photoshop and physically cutting images using a scalpel. In order to create colourful and attention grabbing photography pieces I was influenced by artists such as Rocio Montoya, Merve Ozaslan and Waldemar Strempler through the use of rearranging objects and nature of their theme in order to create exciting compositions. These included; making objects come out of the person in the photograph, removing and replacing certain details with different background and creating a collage with different items that seem to be out of place interacting with each other. In my opinion, my most successful parts of the project was when I experimented with the use of both primary and secondary sources to create my compositions as this made my pieces more colourful and unique.
The use of physical collage in my work is what I want to further develop. Although I find it easier to create collage work on Photoshop, I believe that creating this physically makes the piece more engaging because of the texture of the image and the way the layers seem to be somewhat 3D as you slide your hand over them. This is what adds a more interactive effect to the viewer or audience. One of the small problems I encountered with this project was the fact that when you created a collage out of paper instead of using a digital software, you could not re-use this which made decision making more intense as you had to choose the correct composition, the first time. However I realized that experimentation involved stepping out of the box and not being afraid of trying new experiences and therefore I glued in different pieces no matter how they looked like, in order to experiment.
If I was given more time for this project I would take the opportunity to experiment more with the use of Photoshop and to also experiment more on the different ways I could take my photographs.
